WhileĀ SurvivorĀ 50Ā has been officially branded āIn the Hands of the Fans,ā ever since December, weāve known that some particularly famous fans have more of their hands in the process than others. The milestone season of theĀ CBSĀ reality series has enlisted the help of some notable celebrity names in doing-never-before-seen things on the show.Ā Zac Brown, for instance, showed up for the biggest reward of the season, as the country singer served the castaways up a fish feast he caught himself. Then, of course, thereās the āBillie EilishĀ Boomerang Idol,ā a new cross-tribal twist on the game-changing trinket courtesy of the pop icon.
Now we have confirmation of the next star who is going to have their fingerprints onĀ Survivor 50:Ā Jimmy Fallon.
TheĀ Tonight ShowĀ hostās involvement in the season was confirmed back when the trailer first debuted, asĀ Christian HubickiĀ vaguely says, āJimmy Fallon may decide my fate in this game.ā And, after months of speculation, theĀ SNLĀ alum spoke out about his role while sitting down withĀ Abbott ElementaryĀ starĀ Quinta Brunson.
āI find out we have more and more things in common every time you come on the show,ā he tells the Emmy winner during her Monday night appearance on his show. āI know that weāre both fans of the showĀ Survivor.ā
āI loveĀ Survivor,ā she affirms. āI love it.ā
āIām going to be on itĀ Wednesday!ā he states.
āThatās really cool. Iām not jealous,ā she clearly downplays.
He then explains, āJeff ProbstĀ was on the show. I always pitch him ideas. He ignores them. Theyāre terrible ideas. He gave me his number.ā
āI wish I had his phone number,ā Brunson replies.
āIāll give it to you,ā he affirms. āThe whole audience will get Jeff Probstās phone number on the way out.ā
He then continues, āSo I go, āI gotta be part of this [āIn the Hands of the Fansā] thing.ā The producers are geniuses over there. They send me these ideas, I go, āYep.ā So Iām part of an advantage.ā
While assumed previously, this confirms that, unlike Brown and upcoming guestĀ MrBeast, Fallon will not be making an on-island appearance. Instead, like Eilish, the role heāll play is in abstentia, instead putting his name behind an advantage being introduced into the game. While Fallon was mum about what exactly that advantage is, the press release for this weekāsĀ SurvivorĀ episode makes mention of a journey, and that, upon returning to the camp, the person who participates āmust read aloud an important announcement regarding their recent adventure.ā Perhaps his twist involves yet another scramble through the jungle, in the hopes of not letting your game get dictated by the man behindĀ TaxiĀ andĀ Fever Pitch?
Some fans may not know, however, that this is not the first time a facet of the game will be determined by Jimmy Fallon. Back inĀ Island of the Idols,Ā Survivorās 39th season, the titular twist involved legendary playersĀ Boston Rob MarianoĀ andĀ Sandra Diaz-TwineĀ living on a separate island, occasionally teaching select castaways tips and tricks to hopefully take home the win. Part of their duties involved observing Tribal Councils, which they did from a secret box on the set. WhenĀ ParadeĀ got the chance to go out onto set forĀ Island of the Idols, Probst revealed that the idea surprisingly came from the Emmy and Grammy winner.
āThe idea to bring them into Tribal Council actually came from an idea that Jimmy Fallon had about two or three years ago,āĀ Probst said at the time. āHe said, āYou should have a secret viewing booth where somebody can listen to Tribal, but not have anyone know theyāre there.ā We couldnāt figure out how to make it work, but we knew it was a super cool idea. Then when we had this idea, and it started gaining momentum, we said, āThatās what we do. We also let them watch, but nobody knows theyāre there.ā Itās the Jimmy Fallon Secret Viewing Booth.ā
Due to his role in the episodeās events, Fallon also teases to Brunson that he had seen an advanced screening of what happens this week. While he remains mum on the details, he was positively giddy as he forecasts, āSomething goes down. Itās gonna be nuts!ā We shall see what that entails exactly, and whether Fallonās new advantage will keep these playersā heads spinning more than a Wheel of Celebrity Impressions.
