Veah Netherton is pregnant!

The 90 Day Fiancé star is expecting her first baby with husband David Chairez, sharing the news exclusively with PEOPLE. Netherton, who will be returning to screens in the popular franchise’s spinoff, 90 Day Diaries, shares she “wasn’t expecting to become pregnant,” adding it was “definitely a shock.”

“I wasn’t expecting to become pregnant, so it was definitely a shock, but such a good one,” she tells PEOPLE. “We’re so grateful and so excited to become parents.”

The soon-to-be mom didn’t have an easy beginning to her pregnancy journey. She explains that she was “pretty sick” during her first trimester, adding how thankful she is to be “feeling back to myself now.”

“I was pretty sick during my first trimester and threw up almost every day, but thankfully I’m feeling back to myself now,” she shares, before revealing some of her pregnancy cravings have been “raw onions and all things spicy.”

The expectant parents recently traveled to Texas to share the exciting news of their baby on the way with Chairez’s mother. Netherton tells PEOPLE that the moment was “so much more special” because it is her first grandchild.

“We traveled to Texas to tell David’s family in person, and his mom was screaming with excitement when she opened the gift bag and saw our ultrasound,” Netherton says. “This will be their first grandchild, so it made it so much more special.”

While the couple hasn’t learned the sex of their baby yet, Netherton says she and her husband are “definitely excited” to find out.

“We’re planning a gender reveal to find out the gender. Our families have actually known since around 10 weeks what the gender is, so we’re definitely excited and ready to find out,” she shares.

Since Netherton and Chairez don’t know what they’re having, she reveals that they haven’t begun discussing baby names yet. However, looking ahead to the future, she shares that they are “beyond excited to be parents.”

“We’re beyond excited to be parents and have started receiving gifts off our registry and setting up the nursery,” she says. “That has made it seem so much more real.”
