It’s officially June, and that means there is only a little over a month left until a new season of Big Brother arrives on CBS. So, understandably, some fans are currently going berserk trying to figure out if Season 28 will be another all-star season, all newbies, or a mix of both, and many think host Julie Chen Moonves dropped a major hint in her latest post.

“My levels of excitement knowing that #BB28 is only a few weeks away,” Chen Moonves posted on Instagram on May 31. Following that caption, she added eight emojis, including a robot, a peace sign, raised hands, heart eyes, a shocked face, a smiling face, an okay hand symbol, and a smiling face with hands in front of it.

The post featured clips from past seasons set to the song “DANCE…” by Slayyyter. It started with Chen Moonves saying, “But first…” Then, a series of houseguests from previous seasons, cheering, pointing, partying, and more. The seven clips featured eight houseguests, including James Huling, Da’Vonne Rodgers, Zach Rance, Andy Herren, and more.

There have been rumors that veteran houseguests are returning for Season 28, especially since the press release announcing the premiere date did not say “all new” houseguests like it has since Season 23. Season 22 was the last All-Star season, and it mentioned All-Star houseguests.

X users shared what they think the post means for the upcoming season, which premieres on Thursday, July 9. “It’s definitely 8 returnees! She purposefully used 7 gifs with 8 different past houseguests, and she put 8 emojis in the description #BB28,” one user tweeted. 

Since rumors have been floating around that it would be a Coach’s season, like they did in Season 14, that could be true. The other eight houseguests could be all-new houseguests who are coached by eight vets.

“And when it’s literally just 8 returnees from 23-27,” one fan replied.

“8 for season 2(8)! It’s in the season title, it makes sense!” an X user said.

“Means nothing but glad the hype is there for 8 vs 8, it’s the best returnee format imo,” another wrote.

“Finally, someone from Season 15 is coming back,” one said, since there were multiple houseguests from Season 15 shown. Season 15 was controversial for bullying and racist comments.

Others deciphered the emojis, picking out which one represents which houseguest. Many fans noticed the robot emoji could be Sam Bledsoe from Season 20, who had the punishment of being a robot for one week. “ROBOT= SAM BB20 OH MOTHERS BACK,” a fan said.

“The robot being Sam omfg mother is back to gather the promiscuous girls,” another commented. 

Other fans thought the peace symbol was for Angela “Rockstar” Lantry, who was known to be a hippie and throw up peace signs.

“Ohhhh, the last two emojis (okay and peace) are def Tommy and Christie,” a fan said.
